@ Ellis

"Video is, by far, the fastest growing type of content on the Web, yet you wouldn't know that from looking at content curation efforts. "

I totally agree with you. People who arent giving links to videos on their content are making a big mistake as most readers are impatient to finish off the whole content. First 4-5 lines are enough to convince them to take a look at the physical aspect of the product which can only be visible in an effective manner through a video.

That's another idea. Instead of watching the entire video, might have a summary view with screenshots of the main points.

If YouTube ever does this, I want a cut!

Nope, captions don't do it for me. Relevant screenshots are ok though.

Captions for online videos maybe? best of both worlds

I'm not a super fan of video content, I prefer to read. There are plenty of cooking how-tos and things like that where I want to see preparation. Other content lends itself better in text for me.

Why aren't more content curators linking to videos? Video is, by far, the fastest growing type of content on the Web, yet you wouldn't know that from looking at content curation efforts.

I'm not sure why this is the case, but I think it's a big mistake. Lots of people, myself included, adore videos, especially when we need a tutorial on how to do something (cook, sharpen a knife, create a spinning icon in HTML, etc.)

So many great headlines have been wasted on articles with little substance! Promises of solving X in Y number of steps in a 1000 word article are something I don't expect to happen most of the time. Perhaps in programming but not in most other life issues...

Yes, nothing more annoying than finding an article hat doesn't live up to its headline. Happens more and more, though, as every nags for attention. My least favorite form of headline is "X Tips/Reasons/Things to Think About/Ways/Methods/etc. for [verb here] XYZ "

You're so right! Delivering great content behind an interesting headline must not be forgotten. When the content doesn't deliver you get the feeling the headline did its job but you want to leave the site as soon as possible.

Haha! That's excellent advice. Keep to your schedule and get really great content with the help of actual journalists who could use the work...
